In the 1940’s and ’50’s, a group of masters from Leningrad developed a hybrid of the King’s Indian and Dutch Defenses.
These masters included Korchnoi, Kuzminikh, Vinogradov and Kopilov. Special mention should also be made of K. Ozols, a Soviet master who emigrated to Australia and experimented with the Ag7 development at the same time as the above players.
In the ’60’s and ’70’s, such greats as Tal, Larsen and Bronstein often played it. More recently, Grandmasters Lombardy, Kavalek, Matulovich, Jansa, Marich and Knezevich frecuently employ it.
